20 December 2021, The Netherlands – Clients often come to us to ask what salary they must pay their international staff. Often the salary criteria of the new year do not apply to all situations which means that the salary can actually remain the same. Each year the Government increases the income requirements for highly skilled migrants, which has to do with inflation. What kind of impact does this have for you as an expat or for you as an employer?
In the year 2021, a Highly Skilled Migrant or Intra-Corporate Transferee (ICT) of 30 years or older had to have a gross income of €4,752 per month. See the new criteria below:
Highly skilled migrants or ICT aged 30 years or older | € 4,840 gross per month |
Highly skilled migrants or ICT aged younger than 30 years | € 3,549 gross per month |
Reduced salary criterion | € 2,543 gross per month |
European Blue Card | € 5,670 gross per month |
These salary thresholds are excluding 8% holiday allowance, variable bonusses and a 13th month that is not paid in 12 equal parts on a yearly basis.
Please keep in mind that for each application that is submitted on or after the 1st of January 2022, the new salary threshold must be met. Would you like us to assess which salary threshold applies? For questions, feel free to contact us or call the phone number +31 (0) 85 – 620 4900.
