Advise: Make use of the bicycle, in the Netherlands you are often much sooner on location by bicycle than by car. There are many shortcuts, as well as more beautiful. Don't want to buy a bike? You can rent it. On a bicycle you can discover your surroundings in a fast and fun way.

Advise: Embrace connections with fellow expats! Use Meetup or Internations, check your municipality's international events, and reach out to expats nearby. While lacking Dutch friends may be tough initially, building your social circle will fuel your motivation to make new connections.

Advise: Locals may not tell you, but you really must be dramatic when going for an appointment at your general practitioner: best case you might get the aid you deserve, worst case you get a referral for free mental health sessions
